How to use the Link Checker
What it does
The Link Checker extracts every link on a page and reports where each one points, whether it is internal or external, its anchor text, and whether it carries attributes like nofollow. It gives you a full picture of a page's outbound linking so you can improve internal linking and audit outbound references.
How to use it
- Open Link Checker from the Tools menu.
- Enter the URL of the page you want to scan.
- Click Check Links.
- Use the filters to switch between internal, external, and nofollow links.
Reading the results
The results table lists each link with its destination URL, anchor text, type (internal or external), and any rel attributes. Review internal links to confirm you are passing authority to your most important pages with descriptive anchor text. Check external links to make sure you are only linking to trustworthy sources. Empty or generic anchors like "click here" are worth rewriting for clarity and relevance. If you need to verify that these links actually resolve, pair this with the Broken Link Checker.
