How to install the WordPress companion plugin
The SEO Roger companion plugin is what makes one-click WordPress remediation possible. This guide walks through installing and activating it.
What the plugin is for
The plugin creates a secure bridge between your WordPress site and SEO Roger. It lets SEO Roger read your site's content and apply approved fixes, such as meta updates, schema, redirects, and noindex changes.
Install the plugin
- In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New.
- Upload the SEO Roger companion plugin package, or search for it if available in your plugin directory.
- Click Install Now.
- Click Activate to enable the plugin.
Generate your connection key
- After activation, open the SEO Roger menu in your WordPress admin.
- Generate a connection key (also called a pairing key).
- Copy the key and your site URL.
Link it to SEO Roger
- In SEO Roger, go to Settings > Integrations > WordPress.
- Paste your site URL and connection key.
- Click Connect.
Once linked, you can scan your site and apply fixes from SEO Roger.
Keeping the plugin up to date
Run the latest plugin version so all remediation features and safety checks work correctly. The plugin also adds a small footer credit to your site, which you can review in its settings.
Troubleshooting
- Plugin won't activate? Check that your WordPress version is supported and that no conflicting SEO plugin is blocking it.
- Key rejected? Regenerate the connection key and paste it again, making sure there are no extra spaces.
- Fixes not applying? Confirm the plugin is active and that SEO Roger shows the site as Connected.
With the plugin installed and paired, your WordPress site is ready for scanning and one-click remediation.
